Been absent

Sorry that I have not been here lately, but real life has been taking a toll on me. I hope to have things back on track soon. And to post more on my knitting updates. Thank you all for understanding.

Novelty Yarns

I uaually save a small sample of tuft from different rovings and fleece that I get to spin. I had a lot of baggies of samples saved and tried to think of what I could do with them. They were just small samples so that I could remember the texture, color, and the different breeds that I collected. Not much to work with really, but I got an idea. I took the samples and spun them into yarn, adding a new breed tuft when needed. It did not matter what breed or color it was, I just kept adding to the spinning yarn. I had white, cream, black, grey and two shades of brown. All three yarns I plyed onto themselves to get a mixture of color. I then wanted to play with Wilton Cake Gel for dyeing. I used a teal and proceeded to dye.

My first skein (pictured in middle) came out lighter than I wanted, but I still liked the effect. The second skein (spun at a later time) came out darker and more of a teal color. The third skein (pictured on right), I used dyed yarn in red and blue and natural fleece in cream and grey. This one I tried to spin in some what equal sections of color.

Since these are samples and just my playing around, I do not have much of each to actually make something. So I just put them on the coffee table so that they were always within sight, so I could "think" of a project. I finally think I have an idea, at least for some of this yarn. SOCKS!! I am going to use the dark teal for toes/heels and the lighter teal for foot/legs. Do not know if cuff will be in light or dark teal, it all depends on how much of each is left. I will post pictures when I get them done.

Yarn made from samples of different wool breeds and then dyed in the skein.

Pepper

This is my baby. She is spoiled and knows how to get her way. She is good at not messing with my knitting or spinning. Here she is laying on the couch arm like a cat.

Sassy Stripe socks

Made with #2 DPNs and Sassy Stripes "Crush" #6946. Even tho the cuffs are different colors, I like the uniqueness of the stripes. I knit each sock from a different skein and sock was knit toe-up. Which might account for the miss-matched stripe locations.

Stashbuster Spiral socks

I am still trying to figure out this Blog, so bear with me. I finished the spiral socks and really love the pattern. This was my first socks using DPNs. DH wanted short cuffs, so I had to adjust the pattern a bit. They fit him great and now he wants more socks. As long as he keeps me in yarn I will knit...lol. This does not count all the yarn I am spinning on my wheel....lol.
